SIR20207 Certificate II in Retail

Descriptor
This qualification provides the skills and knowledge for an individual to be competent in a range of activities and functions requiring basic retail operation knowledge and limited practical skills in a retail environment. Individuals may work with some autonomy or in a team but usually under close supervision.

Job roles Individuals with this qualification are able to perform roles such as:

  • Provide product and service advice in a retail store
  • Selling products and services in a variety of retail settings
  • Operate a register or terminal
  • Prepare and sell fast food items
  • Store, rotate and replenish food stock
  • Organising and maintaining work areas

This qualification provides the skills and knowledge for an individual to be competent in retail operations and/or supervision with the need to apply discretion and judgement.

Job roles Individuals with this qualification are able to perform roles such as:

  • Providing in-depth product and service advice in a retail environment
  • Selling products and services in a variety of retail settings
  • Supervising a checkout area
  • Leading a team preparing and selling fast food items
  • Organising and maintaining work areas and displays
  • Merchandising

Descriptor
This qualification provides the skills and knowledge for an individual to be competent in the first line management skills of those working in the retail industry. It applies to those managing a retail outlet.
